The Association of Dental Groups (ADG) marked International Women’s Day this year by awarding Yasmin Qureshi MP the second ADG “parliamentary champion” award in recognition of her work in advocating better access to NHS dentistry in Parliament.
Sandra White, Clinical Director of the ADG said
“This award is to thank Yasmin for her outstanding contribution in Parliament making the case for improved access to NHS dentistry. It is estimated that 11million people are now waiting for an NHS dentists appointment and “dental deserts” are spreading across much of England due to the difficulties in recruiting dentists. In Bolton Borough Council only 37.5% of adults have seen an NHS dentist in the past two years according to the latest NHS statistics.
“Yasmin’s work as Chair of the All Parliamentary Group for Oral Health is vital in making the case for reform of the broken NHS dental contract and we are grateful for the work she has done in raising the profile of dentistry since she has become Chair in Parliament.”
